Universal Studios Globe

This is a replica of the classic Universal Pictures logo of the 1930's that featured a passenger plane circling the globe followed by the Universal logo.

The globe has raised, airbrushed continents and letters raised on metal rods for a floating look. It is supported from below.

The plane is a 1/72 scale McDonnell-Douglas passenger plane, painted and lightly weathered. The plane rotates slowly around the globe via a counter-weighted wire attached to a disco-ball motor on the ceiling.
