Star Trek: Dead Starfleet Officer

CUSTOMIZED

Death in space is never pretty; even if you're an officer in the much vaunted Starfleet. This figure, costumed in the Starfleet uniform of the late 23rd century Star Trek series, apparently met his demise via a hole blown through the front of his skull, exiting in grand fashion out the rear.

I offer Kudos to the original modifier of the prototype kit that I used as reference, who boldly made the mildly-gruesome into the utterly grisly.

  • I was requested to construct this kit as a duplicate of another kit that the client had previously had customized for him. The following modifications were made to this skeletal fellow.

    • Small, jagged entry wound on forehead.
    • Very large, jagged, (drilled-out to show skull-interior) exit hole on back.
    • Wrist and arm bones not included in kit added to skeleton hand. The original I was working to recreate had bones that ended at the sleeve edge. I had to scratch build the bones anyway, so I made them extend into the sleeve.
    • Spinal column that was too long was not truncated at collar as on prototype kit, but body cavity was drilled out somewhat to accommodate it.
    • Instead of airbrushing on dust marks, I used pastels to create realistic dust that I sealed with dull-coat lacquer.
