Disneyland's Storybookland

an illuminated replica to complete a discontinued collection!

Several years ago, a collectibles manufacturer offered a tabletop model of California's original Disneyland, including Main Street, the Teacup Ride and other classic attractions. Each park attraction was sold as a separate piece to fit into a resin multi-part park diorama base. Unfortunately, the line was discontinued before all of the attractions were designed and produced. The client wanted to fit the holes in his collection so he commissioned SMARTT to make the missing pieces, one of which is Storybookland.

The Stoybookland and Casey Jr Train ride (Both are represented in this module) are located at Anaheim California's Disney park. Google Earth and image archives were invaluable in making this come to life. While this has been redecorated several times to update new Disney properties, this is an amalgam of a few different eras as per the client's preferences.

While no motion is built into this project, as the Z-scale tracks are too small for practical turning radii, there are many hidden and visible micro-LED's to enliven the scene.

Since a substantial portion of this project was designed in 3D, renders were an important part of the pre-visualization process.
