Baby Groot

from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Groot is a plant based creature from Marvel Comic's Guardians of the Galaxy comic and film universe. At the end of the first film, Adult Groot is blown to splinters saving his friends. Best pal Rocket (a talking Racoon, BTW) saves a chunk and plants it, so that by the end of the film infant Groot has taken root, setting the stage for adorable baby Groot to come to the rescue in GotG 2.

This project is composed of 2 (yes, two!) pieces that we printed out on a Form2 SLA printer. Everything else, but the foliage is paint, based on a pic from another builder posted in the comments section.

For the leaves, I bought a little decorative plant leaf cluster at Michael's Arts and Crafts. The leaves were still a little oversize so i trimmed them around their stem and drilled them into position as per photos of the CG character.

Finally, the mossy growth around his head is model railroad "Green blend" foam turf.
